Simply Sorbet

It's Spring, the flowers are in bloom, the weather is warm, and the pollen from the trees is EVERYWHERE. So, perfect weather, green grass... it's time to get out, frolic and play again. Oh wait, the pollen...it's been keeping you indoors? Well, what if I told you that there are certain foods that help strengthen your immune system? I know what you're saying, "Dee-Dee, you've officially lost it. There is no such thing!" And to that I say, it's true, it's really true. Strawberries are full packed with vitamin C, a known immunity booster, add in fresh squeezed lime juice, and you've got the perfect recipe for helping to fighting off the potentially negative effects of pollen.

It doesn't stop there, vitamin C has also been known to help stave off macular degeneration and provide UV protection for the eyes. A study conducted by the Harvard School of Public health found that eating strawberries can help reduce inflammation, as well as reduce the chances of having elevated C-reactive proteins, markers for inflammation.

Strawberry Sorbet

So yeah, that's me and my famous strawberry sorbet, along with a scoop of pineapple mango sorbet. I always seem to feel better after having a big scoop and I wanted to share this "feeling" with you. You can thank me later with a trip to Paris or Bora Bora, I don't ask for much.

By the way, have you ordered my cookbook? Hop on over to my "book" page and order it today. You don't have to be a vegan to enjoy some tasty meatless alternatives so go ahead, ORDER THE BOOK :). I kid but seriously, I wrote the book because healthier doesn't doesn't have to mean bland and boring. Food was meant to be enjoyed and great recipes deserve to be shared. I hope you love this sorbet as much as I do. It's strawberry season, don't let it come and go without trying some of this lovely sorbet :).

Strawberry Sorbet

4 cups frozen organic strawberries

3/4 cup agave or simple syrup (start with 1/2 cup and add more to taste, as fruit in season tends to be sweeter)

juice and zest from 1/2 a lime

Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
